New windows and doors, made a few miles from your house

We measure, manufacture and install for homeowners across Bridgend and South Wales. This page walks through the decisions, from choosing a product to requesting a quotation.

White VEKA Imagine sliding patio doors opening from a lounge onto a garden

Choosing

The decisions, in order

  1. Product

Replacement windows are almost always the VEKA M70; period houses often want the Imagine sliding sash. For the back of the house, decide between a PVCu patio door, aluminium sliding door or aluminium bifold.

  2. Design and style

Opening arrangements, Georgian bars, sash horns, bevelled or sculptured frames, and the number of door panels. We will suggest what suits the house.

  3. Colour

White, colour or woodgrain foil on PVCu; any RAL colour on aluminium. Dual colour keeps the inside white while the outside is grey or black.

  4. Thermal performance

An A-rated double glazed unit suits most homes. Triple glazing or acoustic glass where heat loss or noise is a concern.

  5. Security

Every system we fabricate is PAS 24 tested. Ask about Secured by Design specification and key-locking handles.

  6. Natural light

Slim sightlines on the Imagine sash and Visoglide slider; wide clear openings from a bifold. Consider which rooms need the most light.

  7. Maintenance

Neither PVCu nor aluminium needs painting. An occasional wash and a drop of oil on the hardware is all that is required.

  8. Installation

Our own team installs and makes good. We will tell you how long the work will take when we quote.

  9. Quotation

One written price, free and without obligation. We do not run sales or special offers.

From our customers

“KNM were recommended to us so I thought I'd visit their office in Pyle to get a quote. I was shown around the factory which looked impressive and well organised - a good start. Their quote was competitive and I got a good feeling so we went with them. We weren't disappointed. Tony and John worked hard, were professional and cleaned up as they went along. We are very pleased with the windows, one of which is 4.9m in width. The windows are of a high quality, sturdy construction and we would definitely recommend KNM, they ticked all the boxes for us.”

“Exceptional customer service again today. Came out within hours of my call to fix front door lock and help me out of a really difficult situation. I really appreciate the professional attitude, and immediate response. The windows and doors you fitted several years ago still look stunning. Great company.”

Homeowner questions

Do you install as well as manufacture?

Yes. For homeowners across South Wales we survey, manufacture and install our windows and doors. For trade customers we supply the finished frames for you to fit. If you are unsure which service you need, tell us about the project and we will advise.

Which areas do you cover?

Our factory is in Pyle, Bridgend, and we install for homeowners across Bridgend, Porthcawl, Maesteg, Port Talbot, Neath, Swansea, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Trade customers can collect from the factory or ask about delivery further afield.

Is a quotation free and without obligation?

Yes. Quotations are free and written, and there is no obligation. We do not run sales or special offers; we give our best price first time, all year round.

Should I choose PVCu or aluminium?

Both are good materials and we make both. PVCu is the more economical choice, has excellent thermal performance from its multi-chamber frame, and suits most houses in white, colour or woodgrain. Aluminium is stronger, so it carries larger panes on slimmer frames, and it is powder coated in any RAL colour. For windows and standard patio doors most homeowners choose PVCu; for bifolding and large sliding doors aluminium is usually the better engineering choice. Our guide on PVCu or aluminium goes into more detail.

Can I have a different colour inside and outside?

Yes. Dual colour is available on the VEKA PVCu systems (a woodgrain or colour foil outside with white inside is the usual request) and on the Smart aluminium systems, where inside and outside faces can be powder coated in different RAL colours. Tell us both colours when you ask for a quotation.

Is triple glazing worth it?

Triple glazing lowers the U-value of the whole window and reduces noise, at extra cost and weight. It is worth considering for rooms that are hard to heat, north-facing elevations and houses near busy roads. For most South Wales homes a good A-rated double glazed unit is the sensible choice. The M70, Imagine patio door, Visofold and Visoglide systems all accept triple glazed units, so the option is open on any of our products.

How do I look after PVCu and aluminium frames?

Very little is needed. Wash the frames with warm soapy water two or three times a year, keep drainage slots clear of debris, and lightly oil moving hardware once a year. Never use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Neither material needs painting or staining.

Can I fit PVCu sash windows in a conservation area?

Often, but it depends on the local planning authority and whether the property is listed. Conservation area policies vary: some accept well-detailed PVCu sash windows, others require timber. Check with your council's planning department before ordering. We can provide product details, drawings and images of the Imagine vertical slider to support an application.
